The Boat House
Menu: fusion cooking
To the northern beach of Cala Sant Vicent you can drive two ways: either through the pretty village of San Joan, or by the steep winding road along the coast from San Carlos. We took the winding road with its fantastic views of the bays of northwestern Ibiza.
The owner of “The Boat House” restaurant is the handsome Jay, also 1 of the owners of “On The Beach” restaurant, which is 50 meters away. Jay tells us:
I was born in Ibiza, but have Dutch hippie parents. My mother is vegetarian, my sister is a fish lover, and my father and I mostly like meat. When I was thinking about a new restaurant, I especially wanted to take into account the diversity of people and their tastes. And when a 10-year-old girl told me last year at On The Atzaro Beach, “Why don’t you have any vegan dishes on your menu?” I knew for sure: In our new restaurant, there is something for everyone!
Last year Jay and his Brazilian girlfriend sailed over to Barcelona in a pickup truck and traveled the Spanish mainland, where they ate at various restaurants, chatted with fishermen and arrived at fusion-cooking dishes with influences from Morocco, Iran and, of course, Spain, among others.
The fish on the menu arrives really fresh every day by boats at Cala Sant Vicent beach.
We ate the Temaki Roll with quinoa and grilled shrimp, the Bulgur Salad and drank a smoothie of green apple, celery, parsley, lime, spinach and cucumber.
The interior style is vintage: various used furniture and decorations went with the pickup during the trip. And there are hammocks!
