Santa Gertrudis

Santa Gertrudis is situated in the centre of the island. Often people think that being in the west, along the coast, means that they are closer to the city. But in fact, Santa Gertrudis lies just 10 minutes away from Ibiza town. And is therefore only 10-15 minutes away from a lot of the entertainment. Luckily, Santa Gertrudis itself does not attract this liveliness. Which has resulted in a picturesque village that hopefully will remain so for a long time, if not forever.

Why Santa Gertrudis?

We think this may well be one the most beautiful villages on Ibiza. It has an active local community and the local primary school is known for its modern teaching methods. This means many international inhabitants send their children to school here. It probably also explains why many Dutch and English people live around Santa Gertrudis. As well as it being a nice village, the area is very beautiful, quiet, and very central to the island. Beautiful old fincas have been transformed into wonderful locations for the well-off amongst us. But just like the village itself, most of the occupants have respect for the past, and the original buildings have largely been retained. A nice mix of new and old, with respect for history.

Shops and restaurants

The centre of the town features a nice square with shops, catering establishments and a church (of course!). There are many options when it comes to restaurants. From simple but tasty (think of Can Caus), to eminent but most importantly healthy (think of Wild Beets, Musset and Macau). But always pleasant and with a relaxed ambiance. Just outside the village you will find beautiful shops, such as La Galeria Elephante which will sell you trendy clothing, and quirky interior products, and Sluiz with the famous blue cows in the garden. Here you can also find elegant interior items, but also clothing and more.

Santa Gertrudis is hip and happening and should really be on your agenda when you come to Ibiza.
