Santa Gertrudis

Santa Gertrudis is very central on the island. Often people think they are closer to the city when they are out west, on the coast. But the reality is that Santa Gertrudis is just 10 minutes from Ibiza Town. And so only 10-15 minutes away from a lot of entertainment. But Santa Gertrudis itself was fortunately spared these crowds. What results is a picturesque village that it will hopefully remain for ages, if not always.

Why Santa Gertrudis?

Actually, we think this is one of the most beautiful villages in Ibiza. It has an active local community and the local elementary school is known for its modern education. As such, it is a place where many international residents send their children to school. Not surprisingly, many mostly Dutch and English people live around Santa Gertrudis. Besides being a cozy village, the surroundings are really beautiful, quiet, and you are actually most central on the island. Beautiful old fincas have been transformed into delightful places to stay for the wealthy among us. But like the village itself, most residents also respect the old, and original structures have been preserved. A nice mix of new and old, with respect for the past.

Stores, restaurants

The city center is characterized by a pleasant square with stores, restaurants and a church (how could it not be!). Restaurant options are unlimited. From simple but delicious (think Can Caus), to high-end but mostly very healthy (think Wild Beets, Musset and Macau). But always cozy and with a relaxed atmosphere. Just outside this village you will find nice stores, such as La Galeria Elephante where you can go for (almost hippy-like) clothes, and nice interior products, and Sluiz with the famous blue cows in the garden. The latter store also offers tasteful interior design items, as well as clothing and more.

Santa Gertrudis is hip and happening and really should not be skipped when you are in cubells Ibiza.
