Las Dalias hippie market
This market was founded in 1954 by Juanito. That was a good move by him, because currently this hippie market has as many as 20,000 visitors a day during the high season! The market, which is located just outside San Carlos, features 200 stalls and is also a stage for concerts and other events. It is 1 of the North’s most important meeting places. The range of products is vast; jewelry, exotic musical instruments, colorful bags, artwork, rugs, hammocks, figurines, you can find it all at this historic hippie market. In the middle of the grounds is a bar where you can have a refreshing drink between strolls. This market also has a restaurant. If you love shopping then Las Dalias is definitely a must for a day (or part) out. We recommend visiting Las Dalias in the early morning or early evening on Saturdays, as it can be very crowded in the afternoon. After visiting this hippie, you may want to have lunch at Agroturismo Can Curreu, right next door.
Las Dalias is open on Saturdays and throughout the year. They start at 10:00 a.m. and close around sunset. On Monday and Tuesday evenings in summer, there is a Night Market from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.. At Easter and Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the market is open several days in a row. There are three parking lots (paid and unpaid) but the market is also easily accessible by bus. This must-see market offers free admission!
