Charlotte

Price:
Menu: Coffee, tea & Gin

Close to City Hall and on the outskirts of Ibiza City is Antoni Albert y Nieto Square, where the city’s tallest Christmas tree stood at the end of 2016, because the renovation of Vara de Rey Square was just not progressing. On this square is the 7-year-old Gran Café Charlotte, or as they say themselves, “Coffee Gastobar & Gin.”

The idea of franchise restaurant Charlotte comes from Madrid, where they chose a “London-style” interior, high ceilings, large windows and lots of black.

Charlotte’s target market is mostly locals, who visit Charlotte year-round to meet friends for breakfast or in the evening for a Gin Tonic. So the menu reads “Disfruta tu momento especial” (enjoy your special moment).

So prices are definitely local: coffee starts at €1.20 and cocktails from €5.50. Besides coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice bars and smoothies, cocktails (with or without alcohol), you can also eat some small snacks. Lots of sweets on the menu such as crepes, ice cream, cake and pastries, as well as salads and sandwiches. Also try the piadina, a type of Italian wrap.

And if you are a Gin lover, there are 15 different Gin’s to choose from, including Hendrick’s, Brockmans or the Spanish Alkemist.

Charlotte, and non-Ibiza-esque Gran Café with mostly locals, but therefore just too much fun to go there as a tourist!
