The Ibiza streets are deserted outside of the Ibicencos who are having their well-earned coffee along the street. As residents of the island, one thing is certain, the season is over. A great time to look back on summer season 2016. What were the biggest events and what places did we enjoy visiting.
General:
New record
Ibiza is hot! In addition to foreigners, more and more Spaniards are coming to the island. And the party crowd is not the only target group that comes to the island, more and more families are also finding their ideal vacation destination here. This means that the growth in visitors is ever increasing and a new record was broken this year. In fact, this year the airport has welcomed more than seven million air passengers. Last year, these were 6,477,283 airline passengers. And this number does not include visitors by boat or private jets, which also increased by large numbers this year.

It probably hasn’t escaped your notice, but the legendary nightclub Space has closed its doors. Since 1986, a place where many music lovers have experienced an unforgettable evening. October 2 was the last night, 20,000 people were able to attend. A party that lasted 20 hours with 117 Djs and house DJ Carl Cox had the honor of playing the very last record. What the plans are for the disco is still unknown the only thing known is that the Ushuaia Group has bought it.
Featured Ibiza Villas
Best DJ in the world
That the big names in DJ country can be found in Ibiza we know. But who is really the best? Every year, DJ MAG Top 100 indicates which dance DJ is the best in the world via a public election. This year it is 20-year-old Dutchman Martin Garrix. Martin Garrix spun at Ushuaia every Friday this summer. We hope to admire him every week again next year! Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike led the list last year. They were featured at Amnesia every Sunday this summer.
Cova Santa
Every year there are new parties, some flop some prove a great success. Ever heard of Cova Santa? This is an old cave transformed into a restaurant near KM5 but also hosts regular parties since it was taken over by Amnesia Group. Woomoon is one celebration of this, this is a kind of mini festival with eateries and all kinds of acts where young and old can enjoy good music starting at noon. Our favorite of 2016!

The Giri Cafe
In the remote village of San Juan, little seems to happen as you drive through. Apart from the fact that there is a very nice market on Sunday, there is indeed a reason to visit this village during the week as well. In fact, there is a very nice restaurant here called Giri Cafe. Because of the beautiful garden and the entire ambiance, this restaurant won this year’s award for best restaurant 2016.
